24 Math Game is a fun and challenging game. Our tool gives you random numbers to play with. To solve the puzzle, click the Solve It button and see different ways to reach 24.

How to use the 24 game generator

  1. Choose a difficulty, or leave it on any difficulty.
  2. Press Generate Puzzle to deal four numbers from 1 to 13, the same range as a standard deck of cards.
  3. Try to reach exactly 24 using each number once, with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and parentheses.
  4. Press Show Answer for the simplest solution with its steps, or Solve It to see every solution.

Every set the generator deals can be solved. A real deck produces some hands that cannot make 24, so the generator skips those and keeps drawing until it finds a playable set.

How the difficulty levels work

Difficulty depends on how many distinct solutions a set has, not on how big the numbers are. Easy sets have 21 or more solutions, medium sets have 8 to 20, hard sets have 3 to 7, and expert sets have only 1 or 2, often with a fraction hiding in the middle. 3, 3, 7, 7 is a classic expert set: its only solution is (3 ÷ 7 + 3) × 7.

Rules of the 24 card game

  • Use all four numbers exactly once.
  • Combine them with +, −, ×, ÷ and parentheses only.
  • The result must be exactly 24; fractions are allowed along the way.
  • On cards, an ace counts as 1, a jack as 11, a queen as 12 and a king as 13.
